Stamping with Twinkling H2Os

I made this card to demo Twinkling H2Os for the Tuesday make-and-take at MLO this week. The background and balloons, both from Hero Arts, were stamped slightly differently.

For the background, I painted Twinkling H2Os in Bamboo and Bolivian Blue directly onto the stamp, then spritzed very lightly with water before I stamped it. For the balloons, I stamped regularly using Weathered Wood Distress Ink, then I painted the image with the H2os. For each, I finished with a thin wash of a light gray H2O over the entire image.

I love the shimmer in these paints. It’s barely noticeable, but in the right light the image just shines. See?

I like to tatter my edges when I do watercolor backgrounds, especially backgrounds like this that require A LOT of water to get the colors light and thin. By playing up the distressed look you no longer need to have your background lay perfectly flat on the card. It’s always good to work with your materials instead of against them.
