So. Hi there. Turns out building a house while raising two small children doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for blogging. Since it’s been 9 months since my last post, almost a year since construction started on the house, 15 months since the baby was born, and 18 months since we moved into our temporary (oh God, please let it be over soon) home, I feel like a little update is probably in order.
Allie is four, and about to complete her first year of preschool. She loves to cook, and makes fantastic scrambled eggs all by herself (I’m only allowed to turn on the stove). Theo is 15 months, and constantly on the move. He FINALLY started sleeping through the night a few weeks ago, though he still enjoys the occasional late-night party to keep us on our toes. Herbert is 6. She doesn’t get nearly as many walks as she deserves, but she’s still the greatest dog in the universe. Her favorite thing to do is sit next to the high chair and “share” food with Theo. My husband is one of those people who posts pictures of his food on Instagram now, and he has like 8 times as many followers as I do. (So follow me!)
The house is so so close to being done. We’re in that crazy crunch period where a thousand things are going at once, and all the final decisions need to be made yesterday. I’m at the house daily now meeting with subs, answering questions, and approving finishes. It’s exciting because every time I’m there more is done and I can really see the progress. But I liken it to being 8 years old and waiting for Christmas to arrive. WHY ISN’T IT HERE YET? WHEN CAN I MOVE IN? And of course the anticipation makes all the little inconveniences of our current house even harder to bear. There’s so much crafting that I’ve put off until we have better space, and now I’m champing at the bit to get back into it.
So, in anticipation of getting back into crafting, I’m getting back into blogging. I’ve spend some time revamping the the site, and now it’s time to start writing again. There are still some bugs to work out, and I’m sure posts will be sporadic until I can get back into a routine (read: until the move is behind us and we’re finally settled. Will that ever even happen?) But I’m looking forward to the changes ahead and can’t wait share what I’m up to. Stay tuned!
